The installation in the space – all the same a video-installation “The Orchestra” by Constantin Wallhäuser is aiming at the dissolution of the classical viewer-projection-relation. By projecting a life-size video the artist creates a relation which equals that known from theater rather than the body-stage-relation from movies or even TV. The doubling of the columns in the room as a sculptural gesture itself creates a three-dimensional projection and forces the viewer right in the middle of it.
Furthermore the potenzialisation of shadows and the addition of objects in and in front of the video are decreasing the light: the space gets darker and darker until the person in the video and the shadow the the spectator resolve in the space. More and more gets less and less. All the same the object, the pole represents one voice, one tone in an orchestra – and its shadow the overtone. The multiplication of poles thus creates an increase in voices. But not adding to the expected harmony of a wonderfully orchestrated piece of music but staying just an accumulation of voices: a continous expectation. Continuing until one gives up hope and starts looking for harmony in the kakophonie. But exactly then it is all over and the play starts anew.
